It’s that lovely time of the year when everyone is getting ready for the Christmas period - planning Christmas shopping trips, wrapping presents, attending Christmas markets and starting to fully embrace the festive spirit!
As a Live-In Carer, you will need to start getting ready and organised to make your trip to your client who you will be living with and caring for over the Christmas period. Below are some hints and tips to help with preparing you as a private carer to make the best start with a new client – ensuring that everything runs as smoothly as possible!
Use this as a checklist for preparation:
Confirm dates with the office to ensure you know exactly when your new client will be will be expecting you to begin your domiciliary care services.
Ensure you have a thorough understanding of your clients needs and requirements – talk to us in the office! Each client will have different needs, these can range from short term respite care to companion care and everything in between! It’s important to read through all the client information we have meticulously prepared and provided for you.
Make sure you have organised and made travel plans – get tickets booked for your flight, train or coach journey. If you’re travelling by car, then ensure you have checked your oil and water, tyre pressure and have adequate winter supplies, like de-icer and an ice scraper!
Ensure you have the office emergency contact number in your phone – this is to be used in an emergency situation outside of normal office hours
Do you know what your clients favourite treat is? We supply you with this information and wouldn’t it be lovely to arrive at your clients home with their favourite treat Or take a festive treat, like mince pies, Christmas cake or a Christmas chocolate log that you can both share and enjoy together. This would make for a wonderful welcome and just think of the smile it would put on your clients face!
