At Access Care, we really take pride in providing the very best live-in care services for all of our home care clients. But our mission extends beyond providing excellent live-in care—we also love supporting initiatives that strive to make a difference.

This October, children’s charity Action Medical Research is holding a very special event, Dine with Davina, and we are excited to announce that Access Care is one of the event sponsors. So, for our next blog post, we thought it would be a great idea to introduce Action Medical Research for Children and highlight some of the amazing work they do…

Join us as we explore the important work done by Action Medical Research, and how their dedication aligns with our values at Access Care.

Access Care Introduces: Action Medical Research for Children

Action Medical Research for Children is a remarkable charity dedicated to saving and improving children's lives through medical research. Their mission is to fund ground-breaking studies that look into some of the most pressing health challenges faced by children today.

From developing new treatments to improving existing ones, Action Medical Research is at the forefront of paediatric health innovation. Their work has led to major advancements in lots of different fields, including tackling premature births, treatment of epilepsy, and management of chronic conditions.

Access Care Explains: The MAVIDOS Study

One study that we found particularly fascinating, supported by Action Medical Research, is the MAVIDOS (Maternal Vitamin D Osteoporosis Study). This research focuses on the impact of maternal vitamin D levels on the bone health of their children. By investigating whether vitamin D supplementation during pregnancy can reduce the risk of osteoporosis in children, the MAVIDOS study aims to provide valuable insights that could lead to healthier futures for many.

The findings of this study have the potential to shape future guidelines on maternal nutrition and child health, further emphasising the importance of Action Medical Research's work. At Access Care, as a live-in care agency with over 30 years experience of providing live-in care, we understand the significance of such research, as we regularly provide 24 hour live in care support for our home care clients with osteoporosis and other chronic conditions.

Other Initiatives by Action Medical Research

Action Medical Research not only funds essential studies but also organises events to raise awareness and funds for their cause. One event coming up later in the year is Dine with Davina, happening on 25th October. This event promises an afternoon filled with fun, games, incredible prizes, and money-can’t-buy items in a live auction—all while raising vital funds to support their life-changing work.

By getting involved in events like Dine with Davina, you are supporting a noble cause that aims to improve children's health and well-being. It's a wonderful opportunity to make a difference while enjoying a memorable experience.
